About Festival Indonesia
Festival Indonesia, in its sixth consecutive year, is the largest Indonesian-Australian investment, trade and tourism forum in Melbourne. The Festival showcases the culture, tourism and talents of Indonesia. It also creates opportunities for interested parties to be informed about strategies in carrying out business in the region.

Festival Indonesia has generated strong support among the Australian and Indonesian government, business, academia and general communities. Over 200 delegates from Indonesia spanning the government and private sectors; cultural and tourism organisations; and small to medium enterprises, visit Melbourne annually to take part in Festival Indonesia. The Festival is officially recognised by the Indonesian and Australian government as an annual event to strengthen the long standing ties between the two countries on many different levels.

This year, Festival Indonesia will return to Federation Square in Melbourne and will centre around themes of Culinary, Travel, Cultural and Business. Similar to previous years, this year’s Festival will also host many distinguished visitors and artists from both Indonesia and Australia.

Prominent visitors from previous festivals include Mr. Muhammad Lutfi (Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board), Dr. Miranda Goeltom (Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia), The Hon. John Brumby MP (the Premier of Victoria) and H.E. Mr Jero Wacik (Minister of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Indonesia) among many more. Artists have included lead dance groups from Bali, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra and Nusa Tenggara. Each dance group staged a one-off show in Melbourne in a most colourful and spectacular concert. Local dance professionals have also displayed numerous traditional performances.

This year, the main Festival will be held on 23 and 24 October and will feature informative workshops, a culinary festival, travel exhibitions and cultural performances. However, unlike previous years, Festival Indonesia 2010 will constitute a series of events in the lead up to the main Festival on the 23 and 24 October at Federation Square.

The series of events will run from July to October and include Indonesian culinary workshops and Indonesian fine dining with two leading Indonesian master chefs, an orchestral performance lead by internationally renowned music, an ANZ Business Forum, and a week-long ANZ Indonesian film festival featuring old classics and new releases.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Festival Indonesia 2010.
